really nice blues, here. the warmer colors stand out with all the cool blues.
i'm going to have to try this tape thing. i'm working on a traditional piece... it's going to have several different parts, so i'm afraid that i won't be able to scan it/photograph it properly... or something. anyway, the tape technique might be useful.
I tried the technique, yesterday, but it didn't pull up as much paper as I was hoping for. I'm happy with it, now, because I was able to work out a way to get the pieces I wanted... I'm going to have to explain this...
Ok. So, I wanted a particular piece of the project to have these bits of red paper that i wrote and doodled on inbetween these yellow and plastic bits. I wanted to use the tape thing so that they'd be kind of see through and I wouldn't have to worry about trying to fit them in the empty spaces. anyway, i tried a couple times, but i must have the wrong tape. so I just copied the piece I was working on and used it as a pattern to cut out the doodles/writings into the empty spaces. There ended up being some overlap because the whole image wouldn't fit into my copier/scanner, but it added to the chaotic effect that I usually go for. And I used the tape transfers, even though they weren't exactly what I'd hoped for... They kind of give this light red spattering effect.
I think you need a decent quality clear tape..... then you rip off! with ex amount of applied pressure, to pull off a little, or lots! Try it a few more times... am sure you will master it!!
What i do is.... rip off a 2-3 inch strip of tape... apply it to the: text, colour or image that I want to displace...... Keep hold of the end bit of the tape, and depending on how much of the image you want to rip off, apply either a little rip.... or a more vigorous rip!! Plus, if you use something to scrape/press on the tape, you are inclined to get more of the image!
